Why has attention deficit increased today?

Studies show that the prevalence and frequency of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder has increased rapidly in recent years. There are different factors and reasons behind this increase. One of these is the change in the attitudes of parents and experts towards the diagnosis of ADHD, which is more common and begins in childhood, and the problems it is associated with. An example of this is the decrease in the negative attitudes and approaches of parents towards the diagnosis of ADHD, and the perspective on diagnosis and interventions, especially with the possibility of increasing academic success, is gradually changing. The fact that parents can easily reach experts and clinics that can diagnose possible ADHD, and the development of assessment techniques are other effective factors. Of course, there is also the way we use the phones or computers you are currently reading this article on. Our attention span is almost non-existent now. If you have noticed, even video content on social media is getting shorter..

These numbers may partly explain why the issue has attracted a large audience of patients and doctors, and the media bombardment from various professional and therapeutic industry groups who want to get their share of the same pie.

It is imperative to protect the client from any propaganda that may come between them and the psychologist, and to make our thought processes regarding diagnosis and treatment in the best interest of the patient. What is our duty then? On the one hand, to produce original knowledge, to test what we know over and over again, to generate new questions and seek answers. On the other hand, to use information produced according to the scientific method to meet the needs of our patients.

To go back and filter what we have learned in the clinic through scientific thought. Haven’t we been trained to do this?
